The Montreal Just For Laughs Festival, which will celebrate its 37th edition in 2019 from July 10th to July 28th, is the world’s largest and most prestigious comedy event.

Founded in 1983 as a French language event in 1985 the festival expanded to English language and today attracts performers from around the world. From Gala shows and concerts to more intimate club-setting gigs, live podcasts to television tapings, and up-close-and-personals with the biggest and Just for Laughs (also known in French as Juste pour Rire) Montreal is the world’s largest international comedy festival, welcoming 2 million people each summer.

Montréal’s Just for Laughs Festival presents hundreds of free outdoor activities alongside 250 shows in 25 downtown venues, including several in the halls of Place des Arts.

Its wildly popular gala evenings feature some of the world’s biggest names in comedy. It welcomes 1,700 artists from 19 countries and over two million festival-goers! Every year in July, the Just for Laughs Festival gets Montréal guffawing with its many shows and galas, theatre shows, musical comedies and stand-up comics.

The world’s largest and most prestigious comedy event presents galas, theatre, musicals, stand-up performances and street entertainment. Each day, performers, “New Vaudevillians” and other acts both vocal and visual perform throughout the city, particularly in the “Latin Quarter”—an area known for its theatres, cafés and boutique shopping. In the evenings, the nightclubs and live venue theatres offer special programs supporting the performers.

Although Just for Laughs attracts spectators from around the world, many of those in the audience are talent scouts, booking agents, producers and managers from the entertainment industry.
