Montréal Complètement Cirque, which begins by first week of July festival of contemporary acts highlights the city’s long love affair with acrobatics, farce and derring-do.
The festival’s raison d’être is local strength in circus production, from Cirque du Soleil down to the smallest new companies, depth of Montreal’s love affair with contemporary circus.
Often people think that all circus shows are the same but Montréal Complètement Cirque is full of big diversity on various theme like
the story of a woman on her wedding day, blending physical theatre and acrobatics with the visual style or a show about two life partners on the road performed by two life partners on the road.
It’s a small intimate show, shows that circus can encompass autobiographical elements. Lots of options for the public means a more knowledgeable and engaged audience.
The festival organizers wanted to see performances in the street to reflect the origins of circus, circus in Montreal began in a theatre near McGill and Notre-Dame streets in 1797.
It includes the only round theatre for circus arts in North America, and is one of the anchors for Montreal’s long-term recovery of a large disused limestone quarry and the St. Michel district.

The renowned Minutes Complètement Cirque 0n Saint-Denis Street, which will be transformed into a true open-sky circus ring, with numerous artists performing for Place aux Performances! Festivalgoers will enjoy a new and spectacular at Jardins Gamelins.
Montréal neighbourhoods will turn Complètement Cirque for an evening or a whole weekend! Each day, a neighborhood will be visited by outstanding artists and free participatory activities for the whole family.
Montréal-Nord, Rivière-des-Prairies-Pointe-aux-Trembles, Mercier, Saint-Léonard, Verdun, The Plateau Mont-Royal, Longueuil, Olympic Park, F-MR Station and the TOHU will all be visited between the 5th and the 15th of July.
Throughout the course on St-Denis Street, between Ontario and De Maisonneuve, Place aux Performances!, will present, many artists and young talents mastering multiple disciplines such as : juggling, hand-to-hand, wire, unicycle, aerial hoop, trapeze, fabrics, straps, Chinese pole and even clay juggling! An absolute must-see! These artists, of diverse origins : American, Canadian, French, Japanese, Mexican, German, Swiss, Australian and Quebecer are all united by their love of the circus arts and by their passion to impress the public. Passing by St-Denis Street between July 5th and 15th is absolutely a must.
Central pillar of the exterior creations of Montréal Cirque Festival, is constantly renewing and pushing the limits of creativity in each of his work. It breathes a lot of the magic that characterizes the Festival’s outdoor programming.
Complètement Cirque has plenty of acrobatic games for 5 to 12-year-olds. Trampoline, juggling, trapeze, new features and a brand-new space north of Ontario Street!
Strong and agile or simply curious, the public will have lots of fun with the help of professional trainers in the Aerial Fitness and Yoga area. The aerial circus-inspired training method which works against gravity, in continuous posture sequences requiring strength and flexibility.
